Silky Abbott, the Founder of CANED, fondly recalls drinking sugarcane juice growing up. As an easily accessible street food in India, this natural hydration gave her a boost of nutrients and was a necessary part of her daily regimen.

Post moving to the United States in 2007, it was hard for her to keep up with the nutrition she was getting back home. She remembers grocery aisles filled with sugary drinks that claimed to be hydrating and her health took a toll a few years after she became addicted to drinking the sugary sodas and hydration drinks.

She didn't want her kids to grow up this way and wanted to provide them the same nutrition and hydration as she had access to growing up in India. At first, her kids tried fresh sugarcane juice which isn't as widely available and is pricey and seasonal at the juice bars, her kids didn't like the grassy flavor. This is when she knew that it's good for them and started testing out recipes in her kitchen to make them adaptable to different flavor profiles.
